Feed the Hungry Car Show

Feed the Hungry Car Show Flier

On Saturday, December 13, 2008 CCR will host the “Feed the Hungry” Corvette Car Show. The show will be from 11:00AM to 2:00PM at Patrick Chevrolet, located at 4810 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, VA

Because of the current economic conditions, the Central Virginia Foodbank is seeing a significant increase in requests for services and they are having a difficult time keeping up with the demand. Heading into the holiday season they have an expectation that the meeting the demand for food will be challenging at best.

Last year the Central Virginia Foodbank distributed 12.6 million pounds of food to our region’s most vulnerable people–children in need, the elderly, working poor families, disabled individuals and others in crisis. They are currently distributing over 49,000 pounds of food each day when it is available but could not do this without the help of the community’s many businesses, churches, schools and other organizations which donated over 1 million pounds to the Central Virginia Foodbank this past year through community food drives.

The top 5 food items/categories needed by the CVFB are Canned Fish & Meats; Peanut Butter; Canned Fruits & Vegetables; Hot & Cold Cereals and Pasta & Rice.

For those who might want to make a tax deductible, monetary donation, $1 = 5 meals and 1 pound is an average meal for a person. Checks can be made to “CVFB”. Cash donations should be accompanied by the donors name, address and zip code in order to receive an acknowledgment for tax purposes.

This is a rain, snow or shine event, so Vettes are not compulsory if there is inclement weather. However, Patrick Chevrolet will have some space available in an area that is covered for us to park, so those of you who are willing to drive your Corvette; you may be able to keep your “baby” dry.

These are very difficult times and this is an opportunity to help others in their time of need. Let us overwhelm them with our generosity this Christmas Season.
