Back by popular demand, Saturday, December 10th marks our 11th Annual Holiday Lights at the Beach event in Virginia Beach. Don’t miss this last CCR caravan of 2011! Bring your Santa Hats, CCR Nametags, club radios and join us in the fun!
We will meet at 11:30 a.m. at the Dairy Queen at Route 5 and 295 and will depart promptly at noon. We will caravan down to the beach by way of scenic back roads, stopping again this year at Susan Jaworski’s home in Suffolk. From there, we’ll travel to the hotel, check in and get situated before heading out around 5 p.m. for dinner at The Raven.
After dinner, feel free to take the Boardwalk Lights Tour or head back to the hotel to prepare for our evening party. Holiday Lights at the Beach stretches from 2nd Street to 33rd Street along the boardwalk with over 250 animated nautical and holiday-themed light displays! It is the largest grand illumination display to grace the Atlantic seaboard AND each year the order of light displays is changed to help create a new and fresh experience for visitors. The cost is still just $10 per car and also includes a CD of holiday music.
Please make your own hotel reservations at (757) 437-9100. We have blocked off 20 rooms at the Country Inn & Suites at 1801 Atlantic Avenue at the CCR rate of $60 per night. Be sure to tell the hotel you’re with the CCR event to get this special rate. The hotel has good, covered parking and if you’ve put your Vette away for the winter, come in your OTC (other than Corvette). We have an indoor pool, so bring your suits!
Again this year, the hotel is giving us their party room free of charge. Please pack a cooler with your beverage of choice for the party room and bring along some munchies to share. If you’re feeling lucky, join Dave Dolan in a little game of Texas Hold’em OR a game of LCR (Left-Center-Right, a $1 card game run by Billie Jo Dolan). DJ Sean Dolan asks that you bring your favorite CDs for him to play and don’t forget your dancing shoes! Around 9:30 p.m. CCR’s Polar Bear Club will take a dip in the ocean. Join them if you dare!
We have extended an invitation to the Virginia Corvette Club, Blue Ridge, Beachcombers and Aquia Creek Corvette Clubs to join us, so we ought to have another great turnout this year. Please sign the events book at the meeting or call me (home, 346-5266 or cell, 804-640-9338) to let me know you’re coming. We’ll want a headcount for the caravan down and for the restaurant.
If you are participating in Ed and Cecille Custer’s Toys for Tots @ Christmas on MacArthur event earlier that day and you want to do our Holiday Lights event also, no problem! When that event ends, there is plenty of time for you to drive on down to the beach and join us for dinner at The Raven or for the after-dinner fun at the hotel!
