December 1 was given as your last date to make reservations for CCR’s Christmas dinner dance. This year’s party is this Saturday, December 3 at the Meadowbrook Country Club, 3700 Cogbill Road, Richmond. Dress is formal. The festive evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a cash bar happy hour followed by an elegant sit down dinner. Complete menu and other details are found in the November newsletter and on the club website.

After dinner, the fabulous Ron Moody and The Centaurs will provide dance music! Most musical groups last a few years and then fade into obscurity. Only a select few groups continue to perform for decades! Founded in the mid-1960s, they are still entertaining audiences today. Jody has spoken to Ron Moody and they are ready for CCR!

If you’re already planning to come, don’t forget your U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots unwrapped gift! See you Saturday!

Help Your Club by Paying Dues Now

November 21st, 2011 · Announcements, Events, membership

Payment for Christmas Party also due Dec. 1

2012 membership dues and Christmas Party fees are due on December 1, 2011 and should be mailed in immediately. Please complete the membership renewal form NOW, and mail with your check to P.O. Box 761, Chesterfield, VA 23832. Prompt receipt of your dues helps define CCR’s financial picture and assists in maintaining our records and planning for the New Year.

The membership renewal form requests your updated information, so CCR will have your correct names, address, car info, birthdates (month and day), telephone numbers and email addresses for the membership database, roster and phone list. Please complete this legibly and in detail to ensure accurate membership records for planning and management purposes. You may use the renewal form that was mailed to you, or the application form in the Members Only section of the website, or just provide all the above info on a blank sheet of paper.

Membership dues are the largest single source of revenue for our club. If there is any question regarding the benefits of membership, just think of the Christmas party. CCR pays for half the cost of the party for each member. This year, the cost of the Christmas party is $35 for each member and $70 for nonmembers. If you paid $35 to join as a couple, your cost to attend the Christmas party is $70 as a couple. If you paid $25 to join as an individual member, but plan on bringing your nonmember spouse or other guest, the cost is $105 for the member and a nonmember partner. After meeting parties also represent a great value, heavily subsidized by the Club.

New members who paid in the last quarter of 2011 are considered paid for 2012. Please support your club with your updated renewal form and dues, purchase of Christmas Party tickets, and participation at meetings and events. There are already many events in the planning stages for 2012, and it will be another great year!

Capital Chevrolet’s First Customer Appreciation Day/Corvette Show Draws 65+ CCR Vettes

November 20th, 2011 · Events, Recap

Mike Todd, O.D.

A day that started out cold and windy gave way to a beautiful fall day in Powhatan for the first annual Capital Chevrolet Customer Appreciation Day and Corvette Club of Richmond Corvette Show. 65 registered for the show and at least 15 other Corvettes brought their owners by to enjoy the show as spectators. Quite a few people asked about CCR and requested applications. There may very well be six to eight new potential members at the January meeting.

I believe everyone in attendance will agree that this was an excellent event and our thanks go out to Phil Gracik, General Sales Manager, Susan Poulos, President, and the staff at Capital Chevrolet for making this event possible. Capital put together the advertisement that aired on Liberty (98.9 FM), The Wolf (93.1 FM), and Big Oldies (107.3 FM) the week before the event. It was a wonderful announcement that provided excellent recognition for CCR.

Capital also put together the goody bags, provided the excellent food (through Cub Creek Farms BBQ), provided the door prizes, presented a detailing seminar, and provided the trophies. Susan has posted pictures she took at the show on Capital’s Facebook page. Check them out at https://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/PickCapital Capital Chevrolet may be a new sponsor for, but they really know how to put on a great show!!!

Our thanks also go out to the Marines “Toys for Tots” program and for their participation in the show. Thanks to the generously of CCR and others we collected a large number of toys and $325 in cash donations.

A 50/50 drawing was held to benefit the Powhatan Christmas Mother. A total of $268 ($216 from the 50/50 drawing and an additional $50 in donations) was delivered to Carol Baltimore, this year’s Powhatan Christmas Mother. She and the organization are grateful for the contributions which will help them “Create Christmas Memories” for those less fortunate in the community.

Peggy and I would like to thank Butch Jones, Bruce Bugay, Mark and Vicky White, Peggy Maloy, Janie Hughes, Terry Corbin for their special efforts in making this a successful event. We would also like to thank all those that pitched in at the event when they saw there was something that needed to be done. This certainly speaks well for the character of our club.
