Route Details: We’ll meet at 11:00 am at the same place we met for the Captain Billy’s cruise, behind the Chick Fil A at Atlee Station Road & Chamberlayne Road (Route 301). We’ll be in the office building parking lot behind the restaurant. After taking roll, having a brief drivers’ meeting, we will depart at 11:30, heading north on Route 301.
The drive will take about an hour (33 miles) through the scenic and historic backroads of Hanover and New Kent, almost all the way on Route 606, and you can drive home by whatever route you would like.
We are going to make a couple changes to the route this year to decrease the chance of getting separated. Rather than take Rural Point Road all the way to Pole Green Road, we will take a left around the traffic circle onto Studley Road (Route 606); and after a few miles, simply cross Route 360 onto Old Church Road (Route 606). We can pause and gather stragglers at the “Old Church” (Immanuel Episcopal Church) just a few miles down Old Church Road. Then, like last year, we will continue along Old Church Road all the way to New Kent Highway (Route 249) where we will take a left around the traffic circle and proceed about 10 minutes. Turn in at the New Kent Public Library sign and proceed around to the left to the Trojan Grill.
This is a “rain or shine” event. If the weather is bad or you have more guests than seats in your car, then feel free to drive your OTCs (Other Than Corvettes).
Please register early so that we can provide the restaurant with a accurate head count. And as always wear you name tag and bring your radio, if you have one.
